West 22nd explores love and change in ‘All The Way Home’ EP

With the powerful release of their first EP All The Way Home, West 22nd proves their indie/folk rock melodies are a force to be reckoned with. The Austin, TX based band offers sound full of vulnerability and raw authenticity, creating a deeply intimate and emotionally resonant musical experience. Written during the four members’ freshman year of college, the EP reflects themes of love, moving on, and change throughout the five song tracklist.

The EP starts off with vulnerable lyrics of accepting unreciprocated love and bittersweet realities in its first track “Sunburns,” with mesmerizing blends of raw emotion backed by upbeat indie guitar and drums. The band’s first ever song creates an infectious energy that will have you tapping your feet and dancing along in heartfelt lust.

‘Sunny Jones’ maintains the electric indie-folk sound as vocalist Logan Madsen reminisces the wild ride of young love and moving on in relationships.

‘Sweet’ is like a burst of musical sunshine and instantly lifts your spirits and gets you moving to its rhythmic beat. The track’s soft lyrics reflect an addiction to ‘sweet’ and beautiful honeymoon love.

The fourth track, ‘Charleston Girl’ is a cover of Tyler Childers’ country tune turned indie-rock. Infused with their unique style, twangy melodies are transformed into dreamy sounds with new depths and meanings.

West 22nd’s last track ‘Road Trip’ describes the experiences of “leaving home and the journey of moving on.” The beautifully raw vocals, lyrics of the singer’s journey, and transcending instrumentals solidify the band as an important new figure in the indie/folk rock scene.

From start to finish, ‘All The Way Home’ delves into the journey of self discovery. Perfect for cross-country drives or journeys past young loves, West 22nd truly captures the beauty and simplicity of life in its reflections.

The EP is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Youtube and Youtube Music.
